Simulation: Zukushima Ecology

(zoetrope is one of several pre-film animation devices that produce the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of drawings or photographs showing progressive phases of that motion. )

Artistic Statement

Got inspiration from the Fukushima accident, I want to express the relationship between human and the ecosystem near sea. Thus there are two series of images that can form animation: one is bird and the other one is human. Viewers are supposed to view the zoetrope from 2 different perspectives. If viewers stand far from this installation, they can just see the birds flying; if they get closer, they can see the human running as if they are chasing the birds. Also, at the bottom of our work there is a eco structure that made of distance sensors and LEDs. If you get closer, it starts violent swing and the LEDs start to shine in a faster and faster speed, which show the defensive when viewer(as real human) get close to it.
